FC 71 - Executive Block (NAMM02 - IMAMM03)

Executive block function codes define several variables that affect module operation. Function code 71, with function code 72, pertains only to the NAMM02 and IMAMM03 Analog

Master Modules. Function code 71 resides in fixed block 75 and produces no usable outputs.

 

NAMM01 modules use function code 56, not function code 71.

71.1  Explanation

 

NAMM02 and IMAMM03 Analog Master Modules have up to 64 analog inputs through I/O modules. Inputs are defined in groups of eight as high level, millivolt or thermocouple, or RTD. Function code 71 specifies certain operating parameters and exception reporting times for each group of eight inputs.

 

S1 - CNFLOK

(Configuration lock) Specification S1 is the configuration lock option. A one locks the configuration. The default value of zero provides unlocked configuration. The lock takes effect once the module is placed in the execute mode. Once locked, a configuration cannot be unlocked. To change a locked configuration, the module must be initialized and reconfigured.

 

A setting of two causes the state of the hardware configuration switch to determine if configuration is locked or unlocked. This way the configuration can be locked and unlocked without initialization by changing the position of the hardware switch. The NAMM02 configuration lock switch is pole two of switch one on the expander board. The IMAMM03 configuration lock switch combination is pole three of switch two. A closed switch (zero) provides unlocked configuration and an open switch (one) locks the configuration.

 

The hundreds digit of S1 is the redundancy flag for the IMAMM03 module. Redundant IMAMM03 modules must have S1 set to 1XX for proper operation. IMAMM03 modules not used in a redundant configuration must have S1 set to 0XX for proper operation.

 

 

S2 - ALRMDB

(Alarm deadband) Specification S2 defines the alarm deadband in percent of span for all high and low alarm reports in the specified module. Alarm deadbands prevent excessive alarm reports when values hover around the alarm limit.

 

S3 - LCABLE

(Cable length) Specification S3 is the cable length in feet from the analog master module to the termination device. This is used as a correction factor for cold-junction compensation.

 

S4 through S19

(Exception reporting time) Specifications S4 through S19 set the minimum and maximum exception reporting times for blocks one through 64. Exception reporting times are defined for each group of eight inputs.

 

MIN – Minimum Exception Report Time

Minimum exception report time defines the minimum interval between updates of information sent on the communication highway. This adjusts the signal timing and affects communication highway operation. Exception reports are not sent on the communication highway at each minimum exception report interval unless the value has changed more than the

amount considered significant, set in function code 70 for each point since the last exception report.

Exception report time is selected in 250 millisecond increments with the default value set to one report per second.

 

(MAX – Maximum Exception Report Time)

Maximum exception report time defines the maximum interval between updates of information sent on the communication highway. If a value of a point has not changed significantly over this time period, a report of its current value is automatically sent on the communication highway.

Select exception report time in 250 millisecond increments.

The default value is one report per minute.
