FC 43 - TCS Digital Input (COM and CLC Modules)

The TCS digital input function code inputs a digital variable to a controller module or quick response controller from its termination device. This function acts only on fixed inputs within the controller module. Digital input one will always be found in block 221, digital input two in block 222, and digital input three in block 223. To use this function, specify a fixed digital input block number (221-223). If S1 of function code 43 equals two, the input is unused.

To insure that the module successfully acquires a signal from its termination device, the digital signal generates a point quality flag. To test the quality of the signal, include a function code 31 (test quality) block in the configuration. The quality of the point cannot be determined by any other type of block. The output of the test quality block can be used as an input to other digital processing blocks to provide signal quality information.  The point quality of function code 43 may be passed to the loop to provide signal quality information to other nodes via a digital exception report (function code 45).
