FC 230 - Strategic Loop Controller I/O (SLC01-02)

The strategic loop controller input and output (SLC I/O) function code provides the interface between the control configuration and the Type SLC01 Strategic Loop Controller I/O

hardware. Function code 230 resides in fixed block 100 and uses 17 block addresses (blocks 100 through 116). The SLC I/O function block has:

230.1   Explanation

 

The Type SLC Strategic Loop Controller uses the executive block (function code 81 at fixed block address zero), the segment control block (function code 82 at fixed block address

15), and the extended executive block (function code 90 at fixed block address 20) to set up overall controller operations.

 

In addition to the fixed SLC I/O block (function code 230), the Type SLC controller also has three built-in ASCII string descriptor blocks (function code 113) one SLC station (function code 231), and four analog input definition blocks (function code 182). Table E-8 in Appendix E shows the fixed block addresses for the Type SLC controller. For more information, refer to the SLC01 Strategic Loop Controller instruction.

S1

Specification S1 is the block address of analog input definition (function code 182) for analog input one. This link allows communication between the SLC I/O block and the analog input definition block.

Specification S2 is the block address of analog input definition (function code 182) for analog input two. This link allows communication between the SLC I/O block and the analog input definition block.

Specification S3 is the block address of analog input definition (function code 182) for analog input three. This link allows communication between the SLC I/O block and the analog input definition block.

230.1.2  Outputs

 

This block produces a total of 17 outputs. The first 14 outputs provide values to the system for the SLC I/O hardware. Output 114 is a status flag and the last two outputs are reserved for future use.

 

 

230.2  Applications

 

Figure 230-1 illustrates a possible configuration using the SLC I/O block. Specifications S1 through S4 are the block addresses of the analog input definition blocks. These specifications provide the link between the SLC I/O block and the analog input definition block. This communication link defines how the corresponding analog input is interpreted.

 

Specifications S5 and S6 are the block addresses of the M/A stations. These specifications provide the values of the analog outputs.

 

Specifications S7 through S10 are the addresses of the digital outputs. These links provide the digital output values.

 

Specification S11 is the block address of the pulse input/frequency block. The pulse input function code defines how the pulse input operates.
