FC 113 - ASCII String Descriptor

The ASCII string descriptor (ASD) function code defines ASCII characters and strings in the CBC01 Batch Command Controller and the Type SLC01 Strategic Loop Controller.

 

Refer to function code 181 (batch station) for an example of using the ASCII string descriptor. The example in function code 181 shows the ASCII string descriptor function code defining step and recipe names, loop tag names and engineering units for variables displayed on the controller.

 

Refer to function code 231 (SLC station) for an example of using the ASCII string descriptor in the Type SLC controller. The example in function code 231 shows the ASCII string descriptor function code defining loop tag name/engineering units formats for block 1020 (loop 1 data), 1021 (loop 2 data) and 1022 (auxiliary switch labels).

 

Each ASCII string descriptor can support six entries. Additional ASCII string descriptor function codes can be linked together by S1 to the block address of the next ASD block.

113.1  Specifications

 

S1

Specification S1 links string descriptor blocks together. Setting

S1 to zero indicates the end of the link.

 

S2

Specification S2 assigns a unique ID number to each string

for the CBC01 controller. Specification S2 for the Type SLC

controller is unused.

 

0 = Character strings represent CBC01 controller step names. Table 181-2 lists the ASD format.

 

1 = Character strings represent CBC01 controller loop tag names with engineering units. Table 181-3 lists the ASD format.

 

2 = Character strings represent CBC01 controller recipe names. Table 181-4 lists the ASD format.

 

3 = Character strings represent SLC01 and SLC21 controller loop one tag names with engineering units. Table 231-1 lists the ASD format.

 

4 = Character strings represent SLC01 and SLC21 controller loop two tag names with engineering units. Table 231-2 lists the ASD format.

 

5 = Character strings represent SLC01 and SLC21 auxiliary switch names. Table 231-3 lists the ASD format.

 

S3  - S62

Specifications S3 through S62 define each character within the string sets using the ASCII character set.

 

 

 

 

NOTE: The ASCII string descriptor can use decimal values zero through 31. These are nonprinting ASCII characters. The CBC01 controller interprets decimal zero as an ASCII space character.
